Janine Thomson (Walsh) studied at Wits Technikon in the late 1980’s and obtained a 3 year National Diploma in Somatology. She lectured at Wits Technikon in the Somatology Department and has served on the SAAHSP Board (South African Associtaion of Health and Skincare Professionals).

Janine has worked in the Skin industry since 1991 and has had her own practice, The Skin and Body Clinic, in Johannesburg, since 1993. Janine has always kept up to date with the latest technology in the Beauty and Aesthetic industry, and is a hands on therapist performing Medical Aesthetics treatments from IPL, Chemical Peels, Dermarolling, Bio-Skin Jetting to Lamprobe for the removal of minor skin lesions in her practice. Janine was awarded Sole Agency for the distribution and training of the Lamprobe in 2011 for Southern Africa.

Janine offers comprehensive courses on the recognition and removal of skin lessions for BTech university students, somatologists, nurses and aesthetic doctors. Janine also offers courses on micro-needling and electrolysis. Courses have been approved by SAAHSP and the Wits Health Consortium.

After graduating as a doctor at Wits University in 1991, Dr Norval studied Palliative Medicine at Cardiff University in Wales, achieved with distinction. She later obtained her Masters in Philosophy from UCT , cum laude, also in the field of Palliative Medicine. Dr Norval worked as Medical Director and Director of Training at Hospice Witwatersrand for 14 years, overseeing both Houghton and Soweto branches. For the past 6 years Dr Norval has worked in Aesthetic Medicine, changing her focus to health, wellness and non-surgical cosmetic medicine. She has an Advanced Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine through the Foundation for Professional Development, cum laude. Dr Norval is also qualified with a City and Guilds Diploma in Teaching and Training, and is a consultant trainer for Lamprobe SA and Genop . She currently works in Aesthetic Medicine in a Private Practice in Johannesburg, and has been recently appointed as the president of AAMSSA The Aesthetic and Anti-ageing Medicine Society of South Africa.

Marnel Germishuys completed her ND: Somatology at CUT (Central University of Technology) in 2000 and BTech: Somatology in 2002. After six years working as a therapist she ventured into academia and started lecturing at private body and skin care institutes. In 2006 she started lecturing at CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology) and is currently completing her MTech: Biomedical Technology. In 2006 she designed the BTech: Somatology program and co-ordinated it for 8 years. Part of her vision was to find a synergy of the different divisions of the health and skin care industry and focused on the paramedical practices that could complement more advance/dermal treatments performed by medical professionals. Her passion for the industry drove her to do intense research on new technology and treatments that could be introduces to the students.  She introduced Lamprobe to the programme in 2016 and is currently training the fourth year BTech: Somatology students. She mainly lectures in the ND: Somatology program (body and facial treatments and machines; aroma therapy, reflexology and electrolysis) with specialised subjects in BTech: Somatology program (Lamprobe and Shiatsu).

Carol Maccallum is the owner, manager and hands on skin therapist of Just Skin Aesthetic Clinic, an established clinic based in Green Point, Cape Town.  With previous clinics in both Johannesburg and Durban, Carol has over 30 years of experience within the skin care industry.

Carol strives to continuously learn and be at the forefront of new techniques and treatments in the aesthetic industry.

As of 2013, Carol has been the official trainer for Lamprobe® within the Western Cape area, educating advanced skin care professionals and aesthetic doctors on the recognition and removal of skin lesions for Lamprobe® South Africa.

Doris Coetzer is the owner, manager and hands on therapist in her aesthetic skin care practice, Skin Evolution, in Ballito, KZN, where she works hand in hand with her husband, Dr Nic Coetzer, who has a special interest in aesthetics. Together they perform lesion removal as well as an entire host of specialised aesthetic procedures.

Doris has worked in the skin care industry since 2010 and has an impressive resume of local and international qualifications, including a BA degree from UCT in 2006. Doris has been appointed as a lecturer at the Durban University of Technology for the 4th year students who are specialising in Lamprobe recognition and removal of minor skin lesions as per their scope of practice.

Doris was appointed LAMPROBE TRAINER,  in 2014 for the KwaZulu-Natal area as well as our South African  neighbouring countries. Doris is very passionate about our industry and has a natural flair for educating therapists and aesthetic doctors on the Recognition and Removal of Lesions.

Doris also writes articles on health and skin care for the local print media.

Patricia Lam is the owner of Lamprobe International and is also the co-founder and president of CIDESCO Canada and an International Examiner for CIDESCO. Patricia has been awarded with “The Award of Excellence” granted by the United Aesthetics Organisation (UAO) of Arizona in 2012.

Hubert Lam, Founder and past Chief Executive Officer of Skin Care Consultants and the Lam School of Advanced Esthetics, as well as creator of the Lamprobe. He was a noted leader in the skin care industry throughout the United States, Canada, and internationally. A doctor of Oriental Medicine (O.M.D.), acupuncturist, drugless practitioner (D.P.), medical esthetician, massage therapist, and aromatherapist.
